It is one of the most common phobias in the modern civilization.

One out of every six people experiences a fear while flying. It is found that flying is 22 times safer than travelling by a car on the road, but still the fear of flying prevails in the mind of the people.

Fear of flying is a very real problem as it can cause more than just an irrational feeling like panic attack, shortness of breath and dizziness.

Ways To Conquering Your Fear Of Flying

We provide you with some of the techniques and strategies so that you can overcome your fear while flying:

1. Breathe Deeply

Breathing consciously is a way of getting yourself distracted from fear-based and negative thoughts.

It also helps you in gaining a sense of control over your physical reactions.

Practically, deep breathing slows down the rush of adrenaline in our body which in turn decreases the probability of a panic attack.

2. Use Of Visualization And Some Other Techniques

Try wearing an elastic band on your wrist while you board the plane. When you catch yourself in a negative thought suddenly change the band and go for another one which gives you some positive thought and keeps you calm.

Visualize yourself to be landing safely on the runway and making your way out of the airport hugging your parents or people who are close to you.

Try to remember the sweetest moments of your life and you shall forget all the evil thoughts. Just say:

“ALL IZZZ WELLL”

3. Pretending To Be On A Bus

Just close your eyes and imagine yourself to be travelling in a bus.

4. Avoid The Spread Of Your Fears

Resist yourself from spreading any of your anxiety with other people as they may share some of their bad experiences which in turn will provide oil to the fire and increase your fear.

5. Go For Taking Practical Steps

Pay attention to the safety guidelines and demonstrations. Try to choose a seat over the axle or the wing. Avoid sitting in the middle of the plane.

Turn up the air nozzle to high in order to keep yourself refreshed.

6. Use Some Rituals And Prayer

Fell free in engaging yourself in superstitious prayers and rituals as they can divert your mind from all the irrational thoughts.

7. Use Your Knowledge As A Form Of Power

Study as much as you can on the security measures, traffic control and the safety measures as it will uplift your spirit while flying.

Remember that being brave never implies not being scared. Real courage is overcoming your fears, so face it.

Bravery is all about facing up to the things we fear the most, and then it is essential to overcome and conquer those fears.

People, who are brave enough will, eventually, learn to control their fears. Be brave and face your fear that is how you will learn.
