Scientifically speaking, the answer is Wearing hats do not cause hair loss! This is good news to all the hat lovers.

This is a myth. But, definitely wearing hats of improper fitting may deteriorate the health of the hair. Following are some of the conditions that may affect the hair health due to a cap:

But you should know there are a few other reasons why it might induce hair fall. So understand the co-relation between wearing hat and hair loss properly.

Following are some of the conditions that may affect the hair health due to a cap:

1.Pulling

Tight fitting caps tend to put stress on your hair follicles, which lead to pulling of hair. This phenomenon is also known as Traction Alopecia.  It may lead to bald patches which are temporary.

2. Lack Of Oxygen

It is also found that caps tend to restrict the supply of blood and oxygen to the follicles that leads to unhealthy hair. So if you are wearing a hat everyday for a prolonged duration it is bad for your hair. Try to minimise it as possible.

3. Hair On Hat

One of the major reasons for people believing in hair loss due to hat is the hair found on the hat after removing it. But, remember that we lose 80-100 strands of hair every day. Some of these get caught in the hat.

4. Flat Head

Wearing a cap all the time may make your hair look flat. This appearance of hair gives an illusion that you have thin hair. This noticeable thing will make you think that you are having a hair loss.

5. Genetics

If your parents or grandparents are bald, then you have a higher risk of growing bald. Wearing a cap in these conditions may worsen it. Wearing a tight cap, removing it carelessly, or exercising in caps can lead to unhealthy hair and ultimately baldness.

6. Hair Breakage

Having a cap on your head all the time can lead to undernourished hair. This will cause split ends and breakage of hair. These conditions will lead to thinner hair at some places and thicker at others. Wearing hat damage hair.

So, though hats don’t directly cause hair loss, it is responsible for increasing the symptoms of hair loss if not worn properly! There are a lot of factors that cause hair loss and treatments are available worldwide.

Stay stylish!
