GE CEO Jeffrey Immelt, has made no secret of the fact that he spent 24 years working 100 hours a week and same is the case with Elon Musk who is the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX.

But they both have agreed of the fact that working these many hours a day have not done any good for their company.

Many people think working long hours means doing a lot of work and high productivity but this fact is completely false.

Productivity and stress of doing work all the time cannot stay together only one thing is possible, either you will give high productivity or you will work for long hours.

If you think working long hours like 50 to 60 hours a week is good, then remember it is not good at all, in fact it is very bad. This will affect both your capabilities and your health.

If you think productivity increases with increase in work time then you are completely wrong. Even longer work time gives counter effect on productivity and this is proved by Ford Motor Company.

They increased the work time of their employees and they found that productivity increases only for 3 to 4 weeks. After 3 to 4 weeks productivity rate turned negative.

2.Fatigue

This is pretty obvious that working for larger time leads to fatigue. You will feel sleepy, loss of concentration leading to less productivity.

3.Musculoskeletal Damage

When you do your work in the same postures then this can lead to the development of the risk of musculoskeletal disorders. These disorders damage your ligaments, muscles and nerves. So, long working hours seriously affect your body.

These are the various losses that are caused due to long working hours and this is obvious, everyone can imagine and all the people in the corporate understands this situation.

So, your thinking of working long hours for a lot of work is completely wrong. This can never be possible. That’s why if you want to work effectively then you should try to work with concentration and try it to be for the shorter span of time.

Many companies have realized this thing and they let their employees to take proper rest and work pressure is kept lesser but on the individual level as well, you should be aware of the  this fact and should work efficiently.

Always remember to keep your work and life balanced and have a healthy life.
