Lose Weight and Feel Great – 4 Ways to Enhance Your Body’s Natural Detox System
  • 0

A lot of people misunderstand the concept of detoxing, while others dismiss it completely. But one thing that we all know is that our bodies have a way of eliminating excess toxins. It does so through the pores of our skin, our lymphatic system, and filtering organs like our kidneys and liver among other things. But what if we told you that you could actually stimulate these systems to boost their detoxing capabilities while losing weight? Yes, there are plenty of things that you can do to help your body detox itself faster, and shed a few pounds while doing it. Here’s how you can do it.

Go in a Sauna

Going into a sauna can be a great way to promote fat loss and boost detoxification, and has been used for centuries for this very reason. One of the reasons why it’s so great for boosting detoxing is that it lowers the workload on your kidneys by eliminating excess acid that stays trapped in the pores. This acid is excreted during sauna sessions through sweating.

Try a Sauna Suit

If you don’t have a sauna near you or can’t afford the luxury, the next best alternative is trying a sauna suit. Sauna suits have been used in the sports field for a while, and have tons of benefits not only for weight loss but detoxing as well. Put simply, it’s a suit making it feel like you’re in a sauna. A lot of people in the fitness and health field have been scoffing at the idea that a piece of workout gear could help you shed fat faster, but a new study by the University of Colorado found that sauna suits could not only help you burn more calories, but also improve physical fitness and reduce blood sugar levels.

Embrace the Cold

The extreme cold could also help you detox and lose weight. According to several studies, it has been shown that taking an ice-cold bath or going into a cryo-chamber could help you both lose weight and detox. Taking an ice bath forces your body to burn more calories to heat up your body, and also stimulates blood flow to internal organs, which helps with detoxing.

Exercise

There are few things that can be as great for detoxing than plain ol’ cardiovascular exercise. One of the reasons why it’s so powerful is because of the large number of toxins that are stored in fat cells. It also feeds your liver and kidneys with oxygen and increases blood circulation, all great things for detoxing.

Cut Your Alcohol Intake

Not only is alcohol a toxin, but it is one of the biggest enemies of weight loss. Did you know that two beers contain the same number of calories as a McDonald’s cheeseburger? Your weekend binges might be the reason why you can’t seem to lose those pesky pounds.

But more importantly, alcohol can be extremely damaging to your body and liver. About 90 percent of alcohol will be metabolized by the liver. The enzymes in your liver metabolize the alcohol into a chemical called acetaldehyde, which is a known carcinogen. When the liver recognizes it, it then metabolizes it into acetate, which is harmless for the body. However, excessive drinking can hinder this process by creating fat buildups, scarring, and inflammation.

Final Talk

Detoxing is far from a myth, and there is ample scientific evidence to back it up. However, make sure that you steer away from fad diets and stick to proven methods to help your body detoxify itself naturally using its own processes.
