Did you know that sitting too long has harmful side effects that might be life-threatening.There are various ways to avoid it.
Sitting around is the most common thing that we do. Starting from reading a newspaper to completing our office work, everywhere we sit and complete our job.
Studies have shown that sitting around as many of us do most of the time is bad for our health.
Spending more than just 6 hours a day on sitting around can drive the blood pressure to higher levels, increase the risk for diabetes, depression and some types of cancer.
It’s a high time that we limit our time on the couch.
We provide you some of the ways in which you can prevent sitting around for long hours continuously.

1. Walk & Talk
We conduct most of our business and social affairs from a seated position. Either we go to restaurants or boardrooms or coffee shops to finish our meetings.
If possible, we need to find ways to turn them into walking meetings. Take a stroll in the park or around the block. In this way you will move more, and probably even think better.
2. Go Mobile
Whenever you’re on the phone, go for a walk or at least stand. Most people are energized and engaged when they are on their feet.
It even helps in making a better impression when you stand and talk as you are active.
3. Take A Microbreak
It is quite tough to maintain a good posture at a desk. This is because the ligaments and other soft tissues start to deform for every 20 minutes in the same position which give your body a chair-shaped appearance.
Hence, we need to take a 1 to 5 minute break for every 20 minutes at work. Go for some stretching or focus your eyes on a distant object.
This will get you refreshed and recommitted.
4. Go For Face Time
Try to see people face-to-face. It’s hard to diagnose a torn meniscus or a separated shoulder over an e-mail.
Many people go for completing their job without interacting with any of the co-workers.
But if you’ve got a question for someone and he/she is just near to you, it’s always better to go and take a 3 minute break in order to see the person.
5. Get Less Efficient
Efficiency seems to be killing us. One novel solution is to get a little inefficient in our job. Set up your cabin in such a way that you need to get up every time to reach for things.
Put the file cabinet and wastebasket a bit far so that you need to walk in order to reach for them.
6. Leverage Your TV Time
TV time can be invaluable for floor Pilates, stretching, and Yoga postures. No need to make it super intense.
Remember that restorative postures are great when you go for winding down before bed. You’ll sleep better and burn a few calories.
7. Include The Family
This applies to any fitness venture. A better diet, a more active lifestyle and a stronger workout program. Don’t go for it alone.
You have to make sure that everyone including your family knows that you’re trying to get more activity into your day.
Take a walk around the block instead of a trip to get fast food; play mini-golf instead of going to the movies; choose Twister instead of video games.
