A dual dosha Prakriti routine is quite common. Although the Vata-Pitta daily diet routine is tricky and confusing, but you don’t have to worry.
In this article, we have written a full-proof Vata-Pitta or Pitta-Vata ayurvedic daily routine. One of the doshas of this Prakriti is hot and the other one is a cold dosha.

Vata-Pitta Daily Routine
For balancing the Vata-Pitta, you need to be careful of your lifestyle, diet, and all the timings of your daily activities. The dual Prakriti wants you to listen to your body.
You need to concentrate on the dosha that needs your attention. When a dosha is aggravated, you need to indulge into things that act opposite to the properties of the dosha in question.
The below Ayurvedic plan is ideal. However, we won’t ask you to do everything the next morning. We are including all the ideal practices for a Vata-Pitta daily routine and we have also mentioned the reasons for the same.
As you go through the list, pay close attention to the elements to get the deepest response in your body. So, let’s go through it.
1. Wake Up Between 3 am to 6 am
As per the Ayurvedic principles, the best time to get up is before sunrise. This is the body healing Vata time of the day.
The atmosphere is clean and clear and helps you to awaken more easily. You can make a connection with yourself during this time. That’s why we call it the time to gain self-consciousness.
However, if sometimes you are not able to cope with this time its ok but, try to make this a habit. Moreover, if you are sick or elderly no need to pressurize yourself get up a little later or whenever you feel comfortable.
Keep in mind the key here is consistency too. Figure out a time and get up daily at that particular time only.
2. Pass Your Bowels
This is a good habit for your health. Ayurveda considers it as a natural and essential element for your health and hygiene.
If you are already doing it good enough. But, if you are someone who is not familiar with this habit, you need to put in some efforts.
Drink a glass of warm water after getting up as it helps to loosen the bowels. Additionally, you can also take Triphala powder or tablet before going to bed as it supports your health, helps in regular elimination, and regulate your body functioning.
Once you start with the practice within a few days after you get up the urge to eliminate will come over automatically.
3. Scrape Your Tongue
It is one of the best oral hygiene practice that you can do for yourself. It will help you to remove the toxins and bacteria’s accumulated on your tongue overnight.
Ayurveda considers it as one of the best practice of natural detoxification. Use a metal scraper to scrape your tongue, don’t go for the fancy ones.
Take the scraper and scrape your tongue from the back of your throat till the tip of your tongue. Do it for 5-7 times to remove the build-up completely. Next, rinse your mouth with water.
4. Brushing
You must be doing it daily. Ayurveda recommends cleaning your teeth with herbs. There are many herbal kinds of toothpaste available in the market.
You can buy any of them but, from a reputed brand. The best kinds of toothpaste are the neem toothpaste and the one which has an astringent, pungent, and bitter taste.
5. Drink Water
Drinking a glass of warm water is again a detoxification process. It will awaken your digestive tracts, hydrates up the body tissues, and support peristalsis.
It is especially good for people with constipation. A warm glass of water softens the stool and thus lead to easy elimination.
It is best to drink water after washing your mouth as this will not let you swallow any bacteria or toxins that buildup overnight.
6. Oil Pulling
Swishing and gargling with warm oil is another oral hygiene and health practice. This will strengthen your teeth, gums, jaw, voice, and also improve your taste.
Take a mouthful of coconut oil. Swish and gargle it for good 2-3 minutes. A few people find this practice too satisfying but, be careful don’t extend the time to more than 15 minutes. Once you finish swishing and gargling spit out the oil.
Next, with the same massage your gums. take your index finger and massage it on your gums. This will increase circulation in the tissues and also help your mouth absorb the oil well.
7. Meditate And Exercise
The main purpose of the daily routine is to calm down your nervous system and ground yourself before the day begins.
Meditation is a very good way to release stress from the body.
Apart from meditation, you also have to move your body. Some good exercises are yoga, strength training, dance, and aerobics. You can do any form of exercise you wish too.
Moving your body in the early morning is both for grounding and energizing. It supports the natural detoxification process by enhancing the blood circulation and moving the rested organs and body tissues.
Early morning is the best time for exercise as it strengthens and influences the Kapha Dosha. The Kapha dosha is stabilized bets during 6 am to 10 am.
However, if it’s not possible for you to exercise in the morning you can exercise in the evening just before your lunch.
8. Abhyanga
It is self-body massage. Its a traditional practice carried out to calm down the nervous system, rejuvenate the body tissues, and enhance the blood flow in your body. Broadly speaking, it is actually the practice of self-love.
Self-massage is good for your health and self-consciousness. Every day before taking a bath, massage your body with 1/4 cup of warm coconut oil, olive oil, or Pitta or Vata oil.
Be careful your massage oil should be as per the season at your place. For example, if it’s winter season go for olive oil as it as heat in its nature.
9. Oil Your Scalp, Ears, And Foot
Oiling your sense organs is essential in Ayurveda. Ear oiling is related to Vata Dosha. Lubricating it with organic sesame oil daily will support hearing, lubricates the tissues, prevent stiffness in the neck, and gives a healthy TMJ function.
For this, take a dropper, and out around 5-7 drops of oil in both the ears one at a time. Let it sit for 2 minutes before you go for the next year. Alternatively, you can also use your pinkie finger to oil your ear.
The second step to oiling is oiling your scalp. This will be deeply nourishing. It prevents hair loss, hair greying, headaches, and promotes hair growth. For this, you can use coconut oil, olive oil, or any other herbal hair oil.
The third and the last step of oiling is oiling your foot. Massaging them every morning is a relieving practice as all day you are on your foot.
Focus on the sole part especially. The nerves of your foot relate to other body organs as well. So, massaging them will support vision, stress, and helps to keep the overall health.
10. Clean Your Smell Sense
This practice is extremely beneficial for the individuals who suffer from allergies, sinus, nasal congestion, cold, cough, asthma or other breathing issues. You can clean your nasal passages in two ways. However, never carry them out together.
First is nasal rinse. Pour some warm salt water in your nasal passage. This will moisten your mucous membrane and clean your nasal passage of any dirt, dust, pollen, or excessive mucus.
A few individual find their nose dry afterward. If you feel the same you can use a sesame oil or ghee to lubricate your nose.
The second practice is Nasya. This practice is to apply medicated oil to the nasal passage. This soothes the delicate tissues, promote unobstructed breathing, relieves stress, and gives you the mental clarity. Studies say it can also strengthen your vision.
For doing this, lie down on a bed. Hang your head off the edge of the bed. Once you are comfortable put 3-5 drops of Nasya oil in both your nostrils.
Snif the oil and massage your face, scalp, and forehead slowly to bring about the movement of oil to the sinus.
11. Bath
We know your familiar with this practice. Ayurveda recommends taking bath early in the morning as this is the best you can do to kick-start your day.
It cleanses your body, brings energy, and gives a healthy well-being. Use a mild soap to bath because the harsh ones will remove all the oil from your body.
Ayurveda also recommends massaging your body with soft powders before taking a bath. You can use chickpea flour or rice flour.
This will stimulate the movement of lymph, encourage circulation, tone up your body tissues, and liquify the fat.
12. Breakfast
Maintain a consistent breakfast time. Be mindful your diet should be to balance out the imbalanced dosha. Your food should be as such that it makes you feel nourished, and should be season appropriate.
13. Maintain A Work Pace
This is very important for the Vata-Pitta imbalance. Your work schedule should be consistent to calm down your nervous system. As a Vata-Pitta Prakriti maintaining a constant work time is important.
The dual Prakriti gives you the energy to extend your work hours but doesn’t make this a habit. Pacing yourself appropriately throughout the day will help you to make better decisions and give you healthy well-being too.
Overextending deplete you from inside and thus weaken your body in many ways. Doing it occasionally due to unavoidable circumstances is ok but, making it a habit is wrong.
14. Lunch
Lunch should be the heaviest meal of the day. You should have your meal at a proper time between 10 am to 2 pm. This time your Agni is on the highest. Your Prakriti has a strong appetite and irregular digestion.
You have to have your meal at a consistent time daily.
15. Evening Routine
It is very important. This is the time of the day when you have to relax and spend time with your family and friends. Evening time is a relishing time.
During this time be clear in your thoughts don’t get pressurized by any personal or professional work instead give peace to your mind.
16. Dinner
This is the heaviest meal of the day. it should be light and easily digestible. You should have your dinner before 3 hours your bedtime. It is because it will help in digestion and give you a peaceful sleep.
17. Bedtime
It is very essential for the dua Prakriti people to sleep by 10 pm. Your focus should be on taking 7-8 hours of deep sleep. Clean your bed and wear loose clothes before sleeping.
If you are someone who sleeps late then initially it would be difficult for you to go to bed early. But, once you start with the habit you yourself will see the change in your body and mind.
Don’t take your phone, tab, or a book in your bed as it stimulates your eyes and brain and thereby disturb your sleep. Phone and books in bed are a major cause of insomnia so try to refrain them as far as possible.
Final Talk
The dual Prakriti Vata-Pitta is a common body constitution. It is slightly difficult to manage the dual dosha but, you can effectively do it if you follow the principles of the dual dosha and an ideal Vata-Pitta daily routine.
Adapting a daily routine sounds difficult initially but with time it becomes a habit. Your body will take at least 21 days to make this practice a habit.
Don’t overstress yourself. Give your body time to adjust, carry few practices in a week initially and then later slowly and gradually add the new practice to it.
