How Much Sleep Is Actually Needed?
A proper research was conducted by National Sleep Foundation for two years. After their research, they divided the total ages into nine categories and they described how much hours of sleep is needed by a particular age group.
- Newborn babies i.e. 0-3 months need 14-17 hours
- Infants i.e. 4-11 months need 12-15 hours
- Toddlers i.e. 1-2 years need 11-14 hours
- Pre-school children i.e. 3-5 years need 10 -13 hours
- School age children i.e. 6-13 years need 9-11 hours
- Teenagers i.e. 14-17 years need 8-10 hours
- Young adults i.e. 18-25 years need 7-9 hours
- Adults i.e. 26-64 years need 7-9 hours
- Older adults i.e. 65+ need 7-8 hours
The need of no. of hours of sleep also depends on upon the environmental, behavioral and genetic factors, but the above list is formed by taking the average of all the factors. So, you should follow the above, if you want to keep your body physically and mentally fit.
You can feel it yourself as well. Try to sleep for the hours mentioned above according to your age and then next day for lesser no. of hours. You own will feel the difference.
