Asthma is a universal chronic respiratory disease mostly caused by allergies.Ayurveda has effective cure for Asthma for ages which is effective without any side effects.

Asthma gets severe during winter since cold is one of the major causes of asthma that leads mucus to get accumulated around chest which causes blockage in the respiratory track of a patient.

Due to blockage in respiratory track, the patient is unable to breathe properly which leads to Asthmatic attack and in some cases death also.

Asthma And Ayurveda:

Asthma is called ‘Shwas Roga’ in Indian Ayurveda and is caused when the vitiated ‘Pranvayu’ combines with deranged Kapha Dosha(Water humor) in the lungs leads obstruction in the ‘Pranvaha Srotsa’ (Respiratory Track).

According to Ayurvedic Texts, there are five types of asthma(Swas Roga) which are given below:

1.Maha Shwas : Deep Breath associated with long sound. It is similar to Biots Respiration

2.Urdhva Shwas: Prolonged expiration and inability to have inspiration. It is like Stertorous Breathing.

3.Chinna Shwas: Interruption or stoppage of breath. It is similar to Chyne Stroke Respiration.

4.Tamak Shwas: Continuously wheezing, breathlessness and got relief on stimulus is removed. It is also called Bronchial Asthma.

5.Kshudra Shwas: Breathing difficulty on Exertion. It is like Dyspnea on the effort.

Out of these five types, the first three are incurable and last two that is ‘Tamak shwas’ and ‘Kshudra Shwas’ are curable.

Tamak Shwas(Bronchial Asthma) can be from any of three humors: Vata(Air), Pitta(Fire), or Kapha(Water). Mostly, it is of Kapha humor, and all three are cured naturally through Ayurveda.

How Is Asthma Cured By Ayurveda Naturally?

Asthma can be cured naturally through Ayurveda. Thousands of people cured their Asthma through the Ayurvedic way. In Ayurveda, Asthma gets cured naturally by the use of  Ayurvedic Treatments, Ayurvedic Medicines, Yogic Exercises and healthy diet plan.

Ayurvedic treatments like Snehan, Sudation, Vaman Panchkarma therapy are very useful for removing Kapha(Water) from lungs and get relief from Asthma. Let’s know about these therapies one by one.

1.Snehan Therapy

Snehan Therapy is also known as Oleation therapy and in this therapy, Sesame Oil is rubbed against the chest of an Asthmatic patient. One can do this at home also.

Take Sesame Oil and pinch of salt in a bowl and mix it. Rub the mixture against the chest of the patient. If Sesame Oil is not available, one can do this with mustard oil too.

2.Sudation Therapy

Sudation Therapy is very healing therapy for the asthmatic patient. In this therapy, the patient has to inhale the steam of hot water mixed with eucalyptus oil. One can do this at home also.

Take hot water and add few drops of eucalyptus oil which lead to oleation and take steam inhalation. One can also place a hot towel wrung in salted water over the chest of the patient gives relief in breathing.

3.Vaman Panchkarma Therapy

Vamana Therapy is one of the five therapies of Panchakarma, which removes Kapha(Water) toxins collected in the body and respiratory tract. One can have this therapy done at the Ayurvedic clinic.

Ayurvedic Remedies For Asthma

Today’s rapid industrialization and uncontrolled pollution lead to chronic disease Asthma common among children, young and aged people. Ayurvedic herbal supplements and medicines are best to cure asthma naturally.

Below are some ayurvedic remedies and medicines for asthmatic patients that one can find online or from the nearby Ayurvedic store:

1.Herbal Tea

Herbal tea made up of Ajwain(Trchyspermum), Tulsi(Ocimum Sanctum), Pepper and Ginger is a very useful remedy for Asthmatic patients.One can make this herbal tea at home and regular dosage once a day is enough.

2.Herbal Powder Of Ginger, Black Pepper, Clove, Cinnamon, Turmeric And Cardamom

Take 5 gram of Ginger, cardamom, cinnamon, black pepper, clove, turmeric and 30 gram of sugar. Put all in a grinder and make a powder of all and then take one or half teaspoon and mix it with honey twice a day.

3.Amla, Raisin, Ginger and Honey Herbal Paste

Amla is a rich source of vitamin C and is very useful for asthmatic patients. Ginger and honey are also known for removing cough, and the combination of Amla, raisin, ginger and honey is a boon for asthma sufferers.

One can make the paste of all four herbal ingredients at home and take its dosage regular. To make a paste, boil the amlas till it gets soft, after boiling, remove the seed from amla fruits and now grind the amlas in a grinder to make a paste, when amla paste is prepared, put raisin, honey, and ginger and again grind it till it mixes well.          

4.Bibhitaki, Haritaki

One can take bibhitaki and haritaki powder or fruit. It also helps in getting relief from Asthma.Haritaki powder mixed with honey provide instant relief and roasted bibhitaki fruit with sugar candy is very beneficial. One can chew raw haritaki, bibhitaki fruit also

5.Honey Remedy

Honey, the most popular ingredients used traditionally to get relief from asthma. Honey is mixed with other ayurvedic herbs like turmeric, basil, mint, pepper, ginger to make ayurvedic herbal medicines for asthmatic patients.One can have one teaspoon of honey with warm water every morning to get relief from asthma.

6.Garlic Milk

Garlic is very useful antiviral herb in Indian Ayurveda and Garlic Milk is a very effective remedy for asthmatic patients.

To make garlic milk at home add ten garlic cloves in 30 ml milk and boil the milk. After boiling, drink it.Regular dosage once a day is effective.

7.Turmeric Milk

Turmeric is also a very useful antiviral herb in Indian Ayurveda, and Turmeric Milk is a useful remedy for asthma patients.To make turmeric milk, mix a half teaspoon of turmeric in a glass of milk and boil it.

Some Specific Ayurvedic Medicines For Asthmatic Patients

1.Kanakassava

It is a proven ayurvedic medicine for asthma healing and other respiratory diseases like Tuberculosis. Kanaka(Datura Stramonium) is the main ingredient of this preparation which is a reliable drug for asthma healing.The asthmatic patient can take 10-30 ml of it twice a day after a meal as a dosage.

2.Chyawanprash And Agastya Rasaayana

It is a best ayurvedic medicine for asthmatic patients. The main ingredient of it is Amla(Indian Gooseberry), the rich source of Vitamin C which helps in fighting with chronic disease Asthma.One can take buy it from your nearby store or online and have a dosage of a teaspoon full, thrice a day.

3.Organic Breathe Free Capsule

Organic Breathe free capsules provide relief from asthma and other chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases with no side effect.

It is composed of pushkarmool(Inula Racemusa), Krishna Tulsi(Ocimum Sanctum),Bibhitaki(Terminalia Belerica).One can find it in the market or online and take 1-2 capsules twice a day after meals.

7.Ashvagandha

Ashwagandha herb is very useful to treat inflammation, fever and boosts immunity system. It also helps in increasing physiological endurance and is very useful in fighting with asthma.One can find it from any Himalaya’s store or online and take 1-2 capsules twice a day after meals.

8.Arjuna

Arjuna is very useful for treating cardiovascular diseases and Asthma. One can buy it from any Himalaya’s store or online and take 1-2 capsules twice a day after meals.

Kapalbhati is also a breathing exercise but not like pranayama, and it helps in making respiratory muscles stronger and improves blood circulation in the body.

7.Bhastrika Pranayama

It is a type of pranayama which helps in increasing digestive power and metabolism.

8.Surya Bheda Pranayama

It is also a type of pranayama which destroys all diseases related to insufficiency of oxygen in the body and also cleans the respiratory tract.

9.Meditation

Here are some tips that should be followed to get cured of Asthma properly:-

  • Use Onion and Garlic in the preparation of Food.
  • Take Fresh Fruits, Green Vegetables and nuts in your diet.
  • Practice Breathing Exercises daily.
  • Do jog in open and airy place.
  • Take 8-10 glasses of water daily but don’t take water after having meals.
  • Take light food and avoid heavy food as it causes a cough.
  • Don’t do active or passive smoking.
  • Avoid Chinese foods especially flavored foods like jelly, pastries, chocolates and chilled cold drinks.
  • Avoid beddings, pillow and furniture stuffed with silky fibers.
  • Avoid perfumes and do having a strong
  • Don’t go near polluted and dirty places.
  • Clean your nearby regularly.
  • Never neglect a common cough and cold or infection in the respiratory tract, it may lead to asthma.
