Drinking water just after having meal dilutes gastric juice. Our stomach absorbs water but when we take excess water after a meal it dilutes enzymes that are necessary for digestion.
This, in turn, causes less digestive enzymes to excrete. And hence it leads to undigested food to leak into your system causing heartburn and acid reflux. This gastric problem can further result in back pain.
2.Increases The Level Of Insulin In Your Body
This is due to drinking water just after a meal that leaves behind undigested food. And then it converts a glucose filled a portion of that undigested food into fat and then stores it. As this process requires a surge of insulin in the body that increases blood sugar levels of your body.
3.Dilutes Gastric Acid
Our stomach contains digestive acids which help in breakdown and digestion of food. Also, these acids help in killing and removal of infectious agents that might have ingested with food.
Hence these enzymes also known as digestive fire are essential for overall well- being of our body. But when these enzymes are diluted by water that you take right after the meal reduces their effectiveness and makes digestive system weak. It may also lead to cramps in intestinal wall in some people.

When To Drink Water After Having Meal?
We should drink water at least after 1 hour of having a meal. It will allow your body to absorb all nutrients.
Also, it will be better if you drink a glass of water 30 minutes before having your meal. This helps in proper digestion of food. This is the best time to drink water during your meal time. You shouldn’t drink water while you are standing. You should all sit down to drink water.
