Dosage: How Much Raw Ginger You Can Eat
1. Quantity Intake For Children
Children of between 2 to 6 should not take more than 2 milligrams of ginger root each day. However, Body weight of the child is an important factor which decides the daily amount of ginger intake.
Always take suggestions from your child’s pediatrician before providing your child ginger root. You must ensure that the correct dose of this supplement is provided to your child.
2. Quantity Intake For Adults
As per University of Maryland Medical Center reports adults should not consume ginger root or ginger juice more than 4 grams daily. This dosage recommendation includes ginger root consumed from food sources, such as gingerbread and gingersnaps.
Instructions
Ginger can be used in the following forms and dosages for the majority of the conditions mentioned:
1) Standardized Extract In Pill Form
Intake after every four hours, take 100-200mg or up to three times a day.
2) Fresh Powdered Ginger
Take half to 3/4 teaspoon every four hours or up to three times a day.
3) Fresh Ginger Root
For every four hours, take a 1/4 to half an inch (peeled) slice or up to three times a day.
4) Ginger Tea
You can consume several cups a day. Tea is available in prepackaged bags or can be prepared in five to ten minutes by steeping half teaspoon of grated ginger root in 8 ounces of very hot water. A cup of tea, when steeped for this amount of time, can contain about 250mg of ginger.
5) Ginger Ale
Drink several cups a day. The amount of ginger found in 8-ounce glass is approximately 1gm.Make sure to choose products made from real ginger.
6) Crystallized Ginger
Enjoy two pieces of crystallized ginger a day; about 500mg of ginger is present in a 1-inch-square, 1/4-inch-thick piece of ginger prepared this way.
Consume ginger capsules with a glass of water or other fluid to prevent postoperative nausea. After surgery, start consuming it every day. Do so only under the guidance of your doctor. However, if you go through a chemotherapy then take ginger with food. This will decrease the chances of stomach irritation.
